Do you have body hair in unwanted places? Are you tired of shaving and waxing, plucking and tweezing? Then professional laser hair removal may be for you. Before we go any further, we’re not saying body hair is bad. It’s completely natural, and you shouldn’t feel compelled to remove it.
But if you are considering laser hair removal instead of other hair methods, you’re smart to learn a little about how to prepare. We’ve pulled together a list to help you.
1. Set Up a Consultation with Your Aesthetician
Determine which areas you’d like to reduce unwanted hair in. Set up a consultation with your aesthetician to determine if you are a good candidate.
We offer:
- Brazilian laser hair removal
- Bikini hair laser removal
- Facial laser hair removal
- Armpit laser hair removal
- Full-body laser hair removal
- Upper lip laser hair removal
- Laser hair removal for chin
- Laser hair removal for back
- Laser hair removal for arms
- Laser hair removal for legs
Once you’ve met with your aesthetician and determined what parts of your body are targeted for laser removal, you’ll set an initial appointment.
2. Prepare Your Skin
Beginning two weeks before your appointment, avoid antibiotics, sun exposure, and self-tanner. This may be hard to do in sunny Florida, but it will provide optimal skin conditions for laser hair removal. In addition, on the day of your appointment, avoid lotions anywhere that hair is to be removed. You will also need to go without makeup, cologne, and deodorant if you are having facial hair removal or underarm hair removal.
3. Shave Before Your Appointment
Before your appointment, give a close shave to the areas that we’ll be treating. This may not be possible in some areas but do your best. For back hair, you can ask someone to help you. After your first 3 laser hair removal treatments, we will need about a week of growth to see what is left. All this will be discussed during your consultation.
4. Check the Equipment
Make sure your provider is using an actual laser to treat you. A lot of places will try to use an IPL machine which can cause problems in your hair removal journey. For instance, they may cause thinning out the hair, but not actually lessening the hair.
5. Plan Ahead
Plan ahead. Laser hair removal takes time to see the best results. In following the natural hair growth patterns, we like to schedule the first 6 treatments roughly one month apart before
graduating to “maintenance”. You will also want to follow our aftercare instructions to achieve the best results. This can include gentle cleansing, exfoliating, avoiding the sun, and wearing sunscreen.
