If you’re tired of putting on mascara only to have it flake, clump, or give you raccoon eyes, you’re looking for an alternative. And you really hate the eyelash curler, and false eyelashes are too much trouble. Maybe a friend whose eyelashes always look perfect let you in on their secret — the lash lift and tint. You’re imagining waking up every morning with lashes that look like you’ve already curled them and put on a hint of mascara – all without lifting a finger.
But you’re also wondering if the treatment lasts long enough to make it worthwhile. We’ll get to that in a moment.
What Is a Lash Lift and Tint?
Before we get into how long a lash lift and tint lasts, we should explain what the treatment is. If you’ve never had this treatment, it’s helpful to know what to expect. It’s actually two treatments combined into one sitting: a keratin lash lift and a lash tint.
Keratin Lash Lift
The first part is the keratin lash lift. It’s sort of like a perm for your lashes. For most of us, our eyelashes grow more outward than they do upward. Using a hydrating keratin serum, the lash lift curves your lashes upward, by using a mini roller. It safely perms them, adding dramatic volume and depth to the eyes. You get the look of false eyelashes without the cost and hassle of applying them or using an eyelash curler.
Lash Tint
Adding a lash tint to the lash lift provides even more dramatic results. Lash tinting darkens your lashes, making them look fuller without the use of mascara. You can still add mascara, but you won’t need to use it much to get the luscious lashes you want.
Many of our clients combine the two treatments for a special occasion such as a wedding, honeymoon, prom, or travel, and they like the look so much they come back to do it again.
So, How Long Does a Lash Lift and Tint Last?
In general, a lash lift will last about 4-6 weeks, while a lash tint will last about 4 weeks. How long the treatment gives you the look you want can depend on several factors, including:
- How fast your eyelashes grow
- Your skin type
- Eyelash loss due to an allergy or medical condition
- Whether you follow proper aftercare instructions
How to Make Your Lash Lift and Tint Last Longer
The first thing you can do to make your lash lift and tint last as long as possible is to follow your aesthetician’s pre-appointment and aftercare directions. These can include:
Before Your Appointment
- Don’t wear waterproof mascara for 48 hours before your appointment.
- Don’t curl your lashes within 24 hours of your appointment.
- Don’t wear makeup the day of your treatment.
Aftercare
- Don’t get your lashes wet for 24 hours.
- Condition your lashes daily.
- Don’t sleep with eye makeup on.
- Don’t sleep with a sleep mask.
- Avoid sleeping with your face pressed into your pillow.
- Try not to rub your eyes.
- Don’t use an eyelash curler.
