At Aesthetics at Cima Health, we’ve gained a reputation for providing our clients with some of the most advanced, state-of-the-art treatments for acne scars, wrinkles, and hair removal. Today we’re going to talk about a treatment for both acne scars and neck wrinkles called micro-needling, and why our SkinPen® Precision micro-needling device is better than other devices on the market.
What Is Micro-Needling?
Micro-needling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses thin needles to make tiny holes in your skin. This stimulates your body’s healing process, so your skin produces more of two proteins – collagen and elastin. These are the proteins that make your skin look smoother, feel softer, and look younger. Micro-needing is sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy.
You can opt to have topical anesthesia applied before treatment to minimize any discomfort. Most clients see results after as little as 3 treatments. How many treatments you need will depend on the severity of your acne scarring or the condition of your skin.
What Makes SkinPen® Better?
SkinPen® is the first FDA-approved micro-needling device. It’s a medical-grade, made in the USA device, which means your licensed and trained aesthetician can customize it to your skin tone, skin type, and skin issue. It uses one cartridge per patient, meaning there is no chance of cross-contamination. It’s clinically proven to be effective for a range of skin problems in men and women, providing real results including:
- Reducing the appearance of acne scars
- Reducing neck wrinkles
- Tightening facial skin
- Reducing hyperpigmentation
In addition, in a clinical trial, 90% of patients said they would recommend SkinPen® treatment to friends and family. Check out the Before and After pictures to see why.
Now, let’s look at how some other devices stack up against the SkinPen®.
SkinPen® vs Dermapen
Dermapen is another micro-needling device, manufactured in Australia. It is not approved by the FDA. While SkinPen® has passed more than 90 tests for safety and quality, in 2019, the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency banned the use of several Dermapen products because they had been “manufactured to unknown standards and their safety cannot be verified.”
SkinPen® vs Rejuvapen
Rejuvapen is similar to the SkinPen®. But the collagen induction therapy treatment can be more expensive, because only licensed medical professionals can use it. This means you would have to go to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to receive the treatment.
SkinPen® vs Dr Pen
Dr. Pen is an at-home device, and we do not recommend it at all. To get the best and safest results from micro-needling, it should be performed by a trained aesthetician using the best device on the market.
